Reunited Hilary Weisman Graham Books

There's just something about a road-trip book that makes me happy--and want to travel, of course. In fact, I had to resist the impulse to buy myself a 1967 VW Microbus like the girls had and travel the US (I really would like to do something like that someday--but in a bit more comfort than a Microbus).

The three girls, while BFFs and rabid Level3 fangirls all through middle school, had a serious falling out (one they refuse to talk about, allowing the resentment to fester) and parted ways in high school. But their favorite band is getting back together, Alice has both the tickets and the ride that can take them to the concert, and all three are looking to escape before heading off to college in the fall.

But, despite all three choosing to be in the Pea Pod with one another, only Alice is happy with the situation--mostly because she's somewhat oblivious to the swirling tensions (she's in what I call her "happy bubble". I like a good happy bubble.). As they bounce from one weird road situation to another, they begin to reconnect, to remember why they were friends in the first place.

A road trip wouldn't be a road trip without weirdness. From the hippie-like farm gathering around a large bonfire to the cute-boy encounter over snow cones to the series of mishaps as they near the concert location, REUNITED is a fun ride despite a somewhat predictable plotline with somewhat cliched characters. I found I really didn't mind the predictability or cliches because the dialogue was sharp, the road trip was quite excellent, and I was more than content to just sit back and enjoy the journey.

Reunited Hilary Weisman Graham Books Reviews

This is a fantastic and realistic story about friendship and all of its ups and downs. There's nothing like a roadtrip to bring out the worst and best in people. Enjoyed every minute of the book!
I was able to get an advance copy of this book, and I loved it. I couldn't put it down. Hilary Graham captures the teen experience in such a fun, funny way. My book group was looking for a light, fun summer read and this is it.
Just like new thanks i love this indie sweet funny book Thanks but the day i got i spilled Pomagranite juice all over it so now i cant read...but from what i did read it was great
What a great read, only complaint , I wanted more of the characters and their adventures. Maybe a sequel? Or something else by this author?
One of my personal favoirite books, great for teen girls and Possibly middle school-aged. Reminds you to keep good relationships
This is the book I wish someone had given me right before I entered college. Maybe even earlier, but what I LOVED about this book was that I am SO an Alice--I am so the girl looking for the patterns of fate in everything, looking for the plan, looking for the way everything connects and has a grand master plan that over-arches all of my very human planning. And man do I wish that I had a book like this that's a snarky whirlwind of unplanned hilarity, and epic battle of control freak vs. the real world, three totally separate personalities all finding exactly what they needed without really finding what they initially wanted.

Because honestly, in my experience, that's what life is--the plan you can't control, the unexpected moments of love and friendship and painful realization. And this book captured them PERFECTLY.

Plus, from a writer's standpoint, I have NO IDEA how Graham managed to write three such separate characters with such distinct voices. Incredibly impressive!

All in all, I just loved it.
First things first I didn't want to read Reunited when I first heard about it. I probably skimmed the cover and thought, "meh." Which, guys, this happens to me a LOT. You would think by now I would learn, but alas, I haven't . . so when Julie asked me if I was willing to read Reunited, I was thinking er. . . and decided to read what Reunited was about and thought, "Oh hey, this book might be good!"

I was wrong. This book is AMAZING! One of my favorite books of 2012, I swear. (I keep saying that, but YO, SUCH A FANTASTIC BOOK.) I loved the relationship between the girls; I loved how real everything felt. It was one of those books were you wanted to experience the road trip with the girls--and trust me, I really want some sno cones right about now. YUM.

If you're looking for a great contemporary read, I highly suggest Reunited. If you're looking for a book about ex-friends getting back together, I highly suggest Reunited. If you're a music lover, read Reunited. If you're just a book lover, READ REUNITED.
