I could barely finish this book, the characters were all over the place and the pacing was off. As a fan of Garwood's highland series, I had a hard time believing this came from the same author of so many of my long-time favorites! I honestly go back to re-read many of her works time and again, but this one was a struggle to even finish. The heroine is a strange mix of foolish, brave, naive, and spoiled. One second she's a hawk trainer with two fierce dogs that no one else can control, and the next she's a watering pot who cries at the drop of a hat. Really? At least Gabriel is pretty consistent for the most part, but honestly I was more interested in his second-in-command Roger than either of the two main characters, and you know that can't be a great sign. I'd pass on this and read The Secret or Ransom instead.

Gentle Warrior Tapestry Romance No 74 Julie Garwood 9780671737801 Books Reviews

Yeah...well...even though this was basically your typical tedious attract and conquer story between two strong willed individuals, it was still a delicious and entertaining romp. An Alpha Male, Lord Geoffrey, aka The Hawk - - kewl......(ummmm, and may I just say... "YUM")... and beautiful, blond, Lady Elizabeth - - both struggling to learn of one another and remain sane which is a constant and continual test of limits and a battle of wills. YeeHaw!! Let the games commence!

Unfortunately this JG story didn't hold the usual humorous situations we've grown to love and come to expect. A sweet romance novel with little hoopla and a tiny mystery to unravel.
This is my least favorite of Julie Garwoods books. The dialogue vacillates between sappy and shaming . I think I had to hand in my women card to read this book. I love most of her collection . Please check out her others books they usually have a fun mystery , humor, steamy romance and well devolved characters.
I loved "The Prize".. this book is too much along the same story b line without the humour or characterization. Both heros are determined to make wives come around to their way of thinking and vice versa. In this one the hero just sees her, wants her and demands marriage. In the former the characters get to know each other and she chooses him when she has to chooses a husband. I found gentle warrior tepid compared to the "prize". However all in all I am glad I found Julie Garwood's books. "The Bride"is another of my favorites. These are books are ones I would read again. She has become a favorite.
I love Julie Garwood's historical romances. These are her best books. This was a wonderful story of Geoffrey & Elizabeth and how their love for each other grew. She was a great character built around the knight. It was a nice, relaxing read and of course, finished in one day. These are a great diversion for the highly charged trilogies I have read. It's a story built on the events of feudal England and how she was going to avenge the murders of her family. It will take you away from all the worries of the day and take you to an interesting time and place.
I LIVE Julie Garwood and this book was good, but not what I expected from her. I actually wondered if this was maybe one of her earlier works. It was a good story, but didn't always flow right.

I'm a huge fan of Garwood, and have read many of her books. She's an excellent storyteller. This book Gentle Warrior is not her best. I think it may be one of her earlier works.

I liked both the heroine (Elizabeth) and hero ( Geoffery)...they made a cute couple. I like the realistic way she portrayed the initial conflict and bantering between them as they got to know each other. And I liked the general storyline.

However, I wish she had told the reader more about the mystery surrounding the massacre of Elizabeth's family. That part, as well as the ending, seemed rush and anti climatic.

Garwood remains one of my favorite authors, and I look forward to more good reads from her.
Like most Julie Garwood fans, I have read all her books. I re-read this one and I have to say this is not my favorite one. This book is ok
but if you have never red anything by this author, this is not the book to start off with in getting to know her. The book was slow in places.
It was not one of those books that you start and just feel you cannot put it down and for that reason it took me a few days to finish it. I kept
hoping it would pick up but it really didn't. This book is ok for little light reading when you want to fill in a relaxing time. If you have not read
Julie Garwood, start with one of her other books.
